Päkapikk on detektiiv
This autumn I made many beautiful illustrations for a childrens Christmas poems book entitled „Päkapikk on detektiiv“ (“Elf is a detective”). It was fun project that put me in a Christmas mood a long before actual holiday :) Now the book is finished and available in book stores! It turned out really cool!
Very soon, on December 6th, there will be a presentation of this book in Tallinn. So exciding! But before that I want to share couple christmassy illustrations.

Updates and needle felted creatures
For a couple months I have been pretty quiet in all the social medias, but working on some interesting projects, both large and small. One of them was illustrating a Christmas book with poems for children. Thanks to this I got into the Christmas mood a lot earlier this year :) Working on this project was very exciting and I just can't wait to see the final result. I think it's going to be very pretty. The release date is December 6. After that I will be able to post some illustrations and pictures of the book online. I might even make some sort of book "give away" game... I'll keep you updated :)
Recently I felt like I wanted to do something other than drawing and painting, just for a little while, so I kept myself busy by needle felting creatures and making brooches. I made a whole flock of sheep :) Some of them will be presents for my family, as little talismans for the next year, 2015, the year of the sheep.
I have also updated my Etsy shop. You are welcome to come have a peak!
With love,
Ilona

Fixing an old suitcase
My little DIY project. This old suitcase needed a new liner. I used a USSR era wallpaper that I found in my grandma's storage room. I think it fit the style of the suitcase pretty well.
Our little puppy was making sure that I did everything right.
I used PVA glue, also know as wood glue, white glue, or carpenter's glue. First I covered the sides and corners, then I used one longer piece of paper for the rest.
And now it's almost like new! Later I will change the handle too. Then it will look even beter :)

Nasturtium
These flowers have a large seeds and are easy to grow. They bloom
with orange, yellow and red flowers. They prefer sunny, dry locations and do
well in poor soil. Nasturtiums are also pest resistant, which ensures a
successful planting. Both their leaves and
flowers are edible and can be used in fresh garden salads.
Decorative Pumpkin
An original, easy growing plant. Grow fast and have a big, yellow
flowers. Pumpkin prefer full sun, but partial
shade is tolerated. Loves fertilizing and watering
during the growing season. Fruits of decorative pumpkin are usually not bigger than 10-15 cm, but
their shape, texture and color can vary a lot.
An amazing plant for a child's garden.

"Plant Me"
"Plant me.“ My new collection of greeting cards!
Each cards has different flowers in handmade decorative
pots, and a little package of seeds inside. At the moment there are three
different plants: decorative pumpkin, cosmos and nasturtium, but in the future
I will make more.
It is a very cute and memorable gift for your friends, loved
ones, any nice people you want to thank, or even for a young gardener who is
curious about growing their own flowers from seeds.
These cards will keep your kind and warm words for a long
time, and will make beautiful memories for both of you. And they are a nice
decoration on the shelf too. The little surprise that grows, blooms, and gives fruits will make this gift even
better as time goes on.
Another surprise
is hiding in the seeds. In order to find out the exact color of the flowers, or
the exact shape of the fruits, you have to plant the seeds and wait until your
plant will tell you the secret.
These three
plants are easy to grow. Even beginners and the youngest gardening friends will
be able to successfully grow them, and see the result of their work in the
first year.
More pictures and short descriptions of each cards and plants will come soon!
Cheers!

"Spring" - my first animated short film
My first animated short film is done! Ehey!!!
It is very short and pretty simple, but I hope you’ll enjoy it ^^
It’s called “Spring”.
With this short I’m participating in a little competition and I will be very thankful if you will support me and give me your votes (click “Like” button at the bottom of this page --> LINK). Thank you!!! ^^
I’ve asked before will I succeed or fail… well, let’s see:
-I’ve had no experience and no knowledge about animating in Adobe flash, but with this work I’ve learned a lot of new things and developed new skills.
-I’ve had time to finish my short until 20 march (I’ve started in the beginning of march) and I finished it week earlier.
-I did all work by myself.
So for me it’s definitely SUCCESS!
I thought before that it is an impossible mission for me…but I did it and I’m very happy :)
Also I’ve had so much fun working on this short!
For the end I want to say thank you to Youtube and all the awesome guys who share their knowledge with others and of cause to Adobe for their flash professional help guide and adobeTV!
Big thank you for the music to Grizzly616!
I wish to everybody happy springtime!

Success or fail?
I've started a new crazy and mega fun project. It's something I've never done before and I have less than a month to finish it (for today it's left 18 days).
I'm very exited, cause if everything goes well you'll see something very interesting from me... yeah, there is a possibility of fail, but who cares ^^ Like Bobby Chiu said "true failure comes from not trying". So I'm going to do my best and we will see what will happen.
Oh, you whant to know what I'm doing? Ok, I'll tell you... *whisper* I'm doing a flash animated short film ^^
It will be very short and simple, but hopefully cute and funny.
I've never worked in flash before, but with the last two or three days I learned how to use it (understand the basics ^^)... I have a story, some kind of storyboard, background, two characters with details... so I hope I can start to animate them tomorow.
Oh, so much thing to do! I feel like I have to remove sleeping time from my schedule ^^
So, what it would be? Success or fail?
We will see it at the end of the month!

Some works from last year
Here is some cockers I drew in the end of 2010:
(Paper texture by akinna-stock)
And now I want to tell you about my forgotten project from the last year. I worked a lot on this, but the final result didn't satisfied me enough and I neglected this project. But overall I think that idea was pretty good and maybe I'll return to this latter and redo all things I don't like.
So, here it is - buttons with different dogs:
I have experimental buttons of each dog, so if you are interested in any of this buttons you can send me e-mail for more information.

Preparation for the Christmas was so exciting for me in childhood... I loved to decorate rooms and especially christmas tree. When everything was done I felt that magic will happen soon and Santa will come to our home :)
The calendar will be available in Deviantart very soon.
I need to think about the front cover... probably I'll draw for this something new.
All illustrations are done with Derwent Inktense pencils on Canson paper (300g/m2), size 14 x 19 cm. All originals of paintings are for sale.
