Sketchbook of California - part VI

Sketches in this post are from the Northern California Renaissance Faire, where we spent a day full of fun. Being a big fan of fairytales and fantasy, I felt like I could stay there forever.
Most of the people were wearing costumes, some of them highly detailed. It was very interesting to see people playing the caracters that they chose.

The Salty Siren Stage was probably my favorite thing... old pirate songs, naughty tales and jokes. I enjoyed every single show there, and I was especially happy to see The Sea Dogs live.

Sketchbook of California - part V

This day at Pescadero State Beach I noticed a big wave a little too late, and I got very wet. It was pretty cold and unenjoyeble, but funny at the same time.

Another sketch of Santa Cruz beach.

Sketchbook of California - part IV

I really enjoyed Santa Cruz, its sunny beaches, tide pools, boardwalk, downtown with street artists and musicians...this town has a special spirit to it.

Sketchbook of California - part III

Let's continue :)
We went to Capitola arts and wine festival. It was really nice place. I think I like smaller towns like Capitola much more than big towns.

Sketchbook of California - part II

I'll continue with sketches of California.

Staying in Fremont, we decided to go to the Mission Peak Regional Preserve to see the sunset and town lights. This evening I saw a coyote for the first time.

Caramel apple, mmm...! While visiting old town Sacramento I tried a caramel apple for the first time in my life.

Sketchbook of California - part I

Last Autumn I spent three wonderful months full of adventure in sunny California. I saw quite a lot and took almost 4000 pictures. But I also took my sketchbook along with me, of course, and I would love to share some of those sketches with you.

All this time I was a happy passanger in an old VW Beetle. We drove around 5600 km.
Squirrels! I've never seen so many of them!

Sighisoara

Three years ago I went on an Eastern Europian road trip with friends, and one of the countries we visited was Romania. Our exploration of the country began in Sighisoara, a beautiful little town with a long history. I have a wonderful memories of it and in the beggining of the last year I put a little piece of them on canvas.

Acrylic on canvas.

Watercolor sketch of Sighisoara.

Hello, mr. Moose!

Little digital project. Usually I work traditionally, so it was quite a lot of fun to paint finally digitally again. Should do it more often :)

Hello everyone!

It has been a long time since I last updated my blog, or any other art related page. This is not because I stopped drawing or painting, but simply because my life changed quite a bit and I had to concentrate on the other things.

The biggest change is that as of about a year ago I opened my own business - a handycraft/souvenir shop. It is fun place, full of beautifull and unique handmade items. Everyone loves it! I named it "Armunud Kunstnik" which in Estonian means "Artist in Love."

The shop is a very big project that takes a lot of my time and attention. However I now want to change the situation a little. One of my resolutions for 2014 is to concentrate more on my own art, to be more creative, and start blogging again.
Since Christmas was just a couple weeks ago, I will share with you my new watercolor illustration „Christmas Eve“.

With love,
Ilona
